Glenn Davies

Glenn Naunton Davies (born September 26, 1950 in Sydney ) is an Australian Anglican clergyman. He has served as Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Australia since 2013 .

Life

Davies studied Anglican theology at Westminster Theological Seminary and Moore Theological College in Sydney . In 1981 Davies was ordained a priest. He worked first in St Stephen’s Parish in the Willoughby neighborhood of Sydney , then as an Old Testament lecturer at Moore Theological College . From 1985 he stayed in England and received his PhD from the University of Sheffield . In 1988 he returned to Moore Theological College to teach the New Testament. He later also became the college's registrar . 1995 he becameRector of St Luke’s Parish in Miranda, New South Wales . From December 2001 he worked in the Archdiocese of Sydney as Assistant Bishop for the Northern Region.

On August 6, 2013, Davies was elected Archbishop of the Archbishopric of Sydney to succeed Peter Jensen and was introduced to his office on August 23.

Davies is married and has two grown daughters.
