The Gloria GmbH (proper spelling: GLORIA ) is a German fire protection companies. It was founded in Gütersloh in 1945 . The company's headquarters have been in Wadersloh since 1952 .
Business areas
Gloria GmbH is Europe's largest manufacturer of portable fire extinguishers. The product range includes portable and mobile fire extinguishers, systems for fire fighting vehicles and property protection systems as well as extinguishing water technology. In addition, training courses, accessories, spare parts and additional collaborations are offered.
history
In addition to fire extinguishing devices and systems, the company operated Gloria Haus- und Gartengeräte GmbH until 2005 , which was sold to Brill Gartengeräte in the same year and which was taken over by AL-KO Kober in 2009 . The company was sold to the British Kidde Group in March 2004, which was sold in 2005 to UTC Fire & Security of the American electronics and defense group United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
In 2007 production in Wadersloh was given up and around 400 jobs were cut. Production was relocated to Ropczyce in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland. Gloria exports to over 125 countries around the world.
The company sells other fire extinguishers under the Adler and Protex brands .
At the beginning of January 2009 there was a product warning about fire extinguishers from Gloria, Protex and Adler. Several hundred thousand fire extinguishers produced between January 2007 and October 2008 were affected.
In 2019, a virtual fire extinguishing system was developed at the University of Kassel . The fire extinguisher communicates with its virtual training environment which simulates fires in different situations. This system is useful for training firefighters and fire protection workers. The fire protection company Gloria GmbH will take over the commercialization of the invention.
