Coordinates: 33 ° 56 ′ S , 118 ° 0 ′ E The Shire of Gnowangerup is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 4268 km² and has about 1200 inhabitants (2016).
Gnowangerup is located in the southeast of the state about 300 kilometers southeast of the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the village of Gnowangerup, where about 600 inhabitants live (2016).

The Gnowangerup Council has nine members. They are elected by all residents of the Shire. Gnowangerup is not divided into districts. The chairman of the council (Shire President) is also recruited from among the councilors.
