Gobliiins

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gobliiins is a point-and-click adventure game that was developed and published in 1991 by the French software developer Coktel Vision . In Gobliiins , the player had to use three characters to solve the respective levels in order to successfully cope with the adventure , as in the jump-'n'-run game The Lost Vikings . The three "i" in the title also indicate the three characters to be controlled.

action

A banquet is held at the court of the Goblin King Angoulafre. Angoulafre suddenly cries out in pain, only to laugh hysterically after a while. After that there isn't much to do with him. The three goblins Asgard (warrior), Ignatius (magician) and Oups (technician) are sent to ask for a cure from the magician Niak, not knowing that Niak himself is the cause of Angoulafe's suffering with the help of a voodoo spell. So the three stumble from one misery to the next. The aim of the game is to find a magic weapon and ultimately to free the king from madness. The goblins must be used according to their respective skills.

Game principle and technology

Gobliiins is a point-and-click adventure . From Sprites composite characters act before hand-drawn, some animated scenes. With the mouse the player can move his three characters through the premises and with the mouse buttons initiate actions that allow the character to interact with his environment. The game has a linear structure, there is only one location available at a time, which can only be left when all the puzzles in it have been solved. To solve the puzzles, the three goblins must be used according to their specific skills: Asgard can use his physical strength against things or people, Ignatius can transform objects into other, thematically related objects, and Oups can pick up objects and combine them with the environment.

Production notes

After Gobliiins , Coktel Vision released the sequels Gobliins 2: The Prince Buffoon and Goblins 3 . After a break of almost 16 years, the fourth part was released in 2009, entitled Gobliiins 4 , which was developed by the Studio Société Pollene and again designed by Pierre Gilhodes. Compared to the previous versions, the title uses 3D graphics, but the game principle of the series has been retained. Also in 2009 the first three parts were prepared and re-released as a bundle by the commercial download provider Good Old Games for modern systems.

Amiga joker 62%

Gobliiins received average to rather negative ratings. The Amiga Joker saw an "original mixture of puzzle and adventure" and praised the graphics, while the background sound was criticized. The game is very simple, which gives the player a quick sense of achievement, but offers a maximum of one weekend of gaming fun.
