Godefridus Sittartz

Godefridus Sittartz (* 1650 in Kempen on the Lower Rhine , † 1718 in Cologne ) worked as a Jesuit and superior of the Jesuit branch in Arnsberg in the people's mission in the Sauerland.

Life

Sittartz was born in Kempen in 1650. He attended the Tricoronatum grammar school in Cologne and entered the Jesuit order in Trier in 1670. In 1684 he was transferred to the Sauerland Mission in Arnsberg. In 1703 he published the text "Trutz Mayer" in Cologne against the Lutheran preacher and professor Johannes Friedrich Mayer . Another work included sermons on the Apostle's Creed . Based on his knowledge of the area, he created a map of the Duchy of Westphalia for the so-called People's Mission and had it printed in Nuremberg in 1706. He published another work with the title “Helmstädtisches Wissensnus” in 1707. In 1716, on behalf of the Cologne Vicar General , he wrote directions for the upcoming general visit to the Duchy of Westphalia. He died in Cologne in 1718.
