Račice Castle

The first written mention of the village Ratzici took place in 1227 in the will of Kojatas IV of Hrabischitz , in which he bequeathed the Drnovice castle to his nieces Eufemie and Svatochňa. The property passed through Svatochňa to her husband Idik von Schwabenitz . Račice Castle was built between 1275 and 1285. Subsequently, the seat of the manor was moved from Drnovice to Račice. In 1285 Milota von Drnovice from the Swabian family first used the Račice title . King Johann had the castle conquered and torn down in 1312 as a hideout for the robber baron Friedrich von Linau ( Friduš z Linavy ). A little later it was restored and from 1346 belonged to Heinrich von Leipa . Around 1350 the Lords of Sternberg acquired the rule. In 1375 Albrecht von Sternberg had to hand over the Račice Castle with the villages Račice, Drnovice, Pístovice , Sokolí, Ježkovice and Nosálovice to his cousin Peter von Sternberg. In 1394 a pastor was mentioned in Račice. Markwart von Sternberg sold Račice with all accessories in 1399 to Peter Krawarn von Plumlov . The Plumlov neckties died out in 1466 with Peter's son Jiří in the male line. When the property was divided under Jiřís four daughters, the Račice estates fell to Kunka, who was married to Wenceslaus von Boskowitz . He was followed by Ladislav von Boskowitz and in 1510 his son Christoph. In 1563, Jindřich Dobeš Černohorský von Boskowitz sold the Ratschitz castle with the town of Ratschitz, the villages Pístovice, Ježkovice, Drnovice and the desert places Vilémov and Sokolí to Jan Jindřich Černohorský von Boskowitz. Via Susanne Černohorská von Boskowitz, ownership passed to Hans Haugwitz von Biskupitz in 1568 . This extended the rule in 1576 to Podomí and the desert Hamlíkov. In 1596 the Haugwitz sold the rule to Bernart Petřvaldský von Petřvald. After the Battle of the White Mountain , Hans von Peterwald's goods were confiscated and sold to Karl Willinger von Schönenperg in 1623. Further owners were from 1629 Simon Kratzer von Schönsberg, from 1630 Horacius Forno and his son Karl Franz and from 1670 the Counts Braida, who owned Račice for 130 years with a few interruptions. In 1718 Račice consisted of 18 properties. In 1750 there was a manor house, nine farms and 13 residents in Račice. In 1773 a pub was established in Račice and a school was established in the chateau. Karel Antonín Graf Braida sold the property in 1800 to Johann Franz Heinisch von Haydenburg, from whom Johann Huschka von Ratschitzburg acquired it in 1802. Huschka leased the estate to the entrepreneur Wilhelm von Mundy at the beginning of the 19th century and sold it to Antonín Hermann in 1830. In 1847 the school moved from the castle to its own building in the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial Račice formed from 1850 a municipality in the district administration Wischau . In 1859 a parish was established again in Račice. During the Sudeten crisis and the mobilization of the Czechoslovak army , the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, General Ludvík Krejčí , moved the general staff of the Branná moc mobilization army to Račice and the surrounding area on September 26, 1938 . The castle became the seat of the general command and the operational department. In 1960 Račice was merged with Pístovice to form a municipality Račice-Pístovice . In 1991 Račice had 625 inhabitants. The 2001 census counted 273 houses and 633 residents.
