Goedam (original 도시 괴담 Dosi Goedam to German about urban ghost stories') is a South Korean horror - anthology series from the year 2020. The central theme of the series are urban legends . Goedam means something like ghost or horror story. The series was released worldwide on the streaming service Netflix on August 20, 2020.

The individual episodes each have a completed plot; are therefore independent of each other. However, there are references to other episodes in individual episodes. They are modern horror stories that take place in a big city.

| Seo-hee is an excellent student. She doesn't seem to be doing well during her economic history class. She leaves the classroom and wants to light a cigarette in the toilet. But suddenly she hears strange noises. When she looks there is no one there. But suddenly the doors open without her being able to see anyone. When she looks under the wall at the next toilet, there is suddenly hair there. Suddenly the ghost of Ji-ye, top of the class, opens the door to her cabin and kills her. | A taxi driver is out at night and drives to the side of the road to get some sleep. Suddenly, around 3:30 a.m., a woman gets into the car. The driver is puzzled because he is practically in nowhere. The woman wants to go to a hotel in Ilsan . The navigation system cannot find this. The woman, however, knows the way. So the driver drives off. At some point the woman says he should turn right now. However, there is no road to turn right. The woman keeps repeating to turn right. When the driver gets upset about the crazy guest, the woman is suddenly on the street in front of her car and he hits the brakes. It turns out that the woman has no eyes. The man turns around in shock and cannot see the woman. Then she shows up and tears his eyes out. Finally the taxi starts again. | |||

| Saerom is a broadcast jockey, which means she streams live from her apartment and viewers can send their money. She has just moved and is celebrating moving in with her audience. Suddenly the teddy falls from a shelf behind her. Viewers comment that she planned it and had a trick. But Saerom says she doesn't know why he suddenly fell off. Suddenly a book moves on the shelf. Saerom is now frightened. The audience advises her to leave the house. She sees this and wants to end the stream. However, she does not notice that he continues to walk. But the chat breaks off. When she has finished it from her point of view, she speaks to her friend and talks about how the audience bought everything from her. You rehearsed for a long time. Now she just wanted to make the preview image for the video. But suddenly the photo filter not only marks your face, but also other places in the room. Suddenly her head turns. A ghost who looks exactly like Saerom takes her head and hits it several times on the table. | Minyeong is watching a video with her friend, in which a monster attacks an apartment block. Sehee says it's not real. After all, they both have to go to class and still want to get their books. Sehee sprains her ankle while climbing stairs. So Minyeong goes ahead to get the books. When she opens her friend's closet, there is a strange doll that scares Minyeong. When she leaves the classroom with the books, a ghost lolls around that haunted Minyeong. She runs down the stairs, but she runs endlessly down the same stairs without getting ahead. At dusk she can no longer. The mind comes closer. The final scene shows how Sehee is looking for Minyeong while the ghost descends the stairs. | |||

| In a class chat, student Jingyeong was bullied so badly that she committed suicide. Your teacher tells the students not to feel guilty, not to talk to the police, and to leave the chat. But Hyesu seems depressed. In her last message, she advised Jingyeong to simply die. In the evening, the teacher receives a message from Hyesu that she wants to talk to her about Jingyeong in the classroom. There the teacher says again that Hyesu needn't feel guilty. But she notices blood. It turns out that Jingyeong's ghost has taken Hyesu's legs. But these don't suit her. That's why she wants the teacher's legs. The first episode is based on a South Korean urban legend from the 1990s, the so-called Kong-kong-kong-Geist ( 콩콩콩 귀신 Kong-kong-kong-Gwisin ). The legend is about two schoolgirls. One always had the best grades. Another was always relegated to second place. But the pressure on the second best student was great, coming from the family, society and yourself. One day she called the best student onto the roof of the school building. She wants to talk to her. Instead, she pushed the student off the roof. Head first hit the floor. The case was closed as a suicide and from then on the former second best student was always at the top of the grades. But at some point the student began to hear a noise: kong-kong-kong . The voice was looking for someone. The student hid under her desk in the hope that she would not be seen. In fact, the door to the classroom was opened and closed again. The pupil was relieved until suddenly an upside down ghost appeared in front of her and said: “Here you are!” The story addresses the pressure that pupils are exposed to.
Episode 5 is similar to the stories of the “ghost without legs” ( 다리 없는 귀신 ) and of the “pupil left alone in the classroom” ( 방과후 교실 에 홀로 남아 있는 여학생 ) as well as Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Red Shoes .
Episode 8 is based on an ancient Korean ritual called Yeommae ( 염매 / 厭 魅 ), in which the mind and body are separated. It is considered dark magic. The authoritative mention for the existence of the practice is found in the Seongho Saseol by Yi Ik from the 18th century.
occupation
Seola from the girl group Cosmic Girls makes her acting debut in the series. Lee Hyun-joo was a member of the April and Uni.T groups , but has devoted herself to acting since she left in April 2016. Song Chae-yoon began her acting career in 2017 and has appeared in several television series.

The series was extensively produced by Zanybros; founded by Hong Won-ki and Kim Jun-hong. It's the studio's first series. The production company became known for its music videos and commercials. You are a partner of numerous K-Pop producers and in the last two years have shot music videos for Cosmic Girls , GFriend , Secret Number , SF9 and Weki Meki , among others . The shooting took place in May 2019. The film production company Megabox Plus M. Netflix published the series worldwide.
