Uni.T ( Korean 유니티 , stylized spelling UNI.T ) was a South Korean girl group that was founded in 2018 and was under contract with The Unit Culture Industry Company. The group was created in the casting show "The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project" and was planned as a temporary group. Uni.T officially debuted on May 18, 2018 with the EP Line . The group's official fan club name is "WOO U".

history

Emergence

Uni.T was created in the casting show "The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project", which was broadcast on KBS2 from October 2017 to February 2018 . The show was announced in July 2017 and was intended to give idols who had already debuted a chance to show off their hidden talents. 126 participants fought to become a member of a nine-member boy or girl group. The jury included San E , Hyuna , Hwang Chi-yeol, Rain , Lee Tae-min and Jo Hyun-ah.

In February 2018, the show's final took place and the members of the two groups were announced. Members of the girl group Uni.T, which at that time was still called Unit G, were Jiwon (member of the girl group Spica, which was dissolved in 2017), Woohee ( Dal Shabet ), Yoonjo (ex- Hello Venus ), ZN ( Laboum ), NC.A, Euijin ( Sonamoo ), Yebin ( DIA ), Hyunjoo (ex-April) and Suji (ex-The Ark). On February 24, it was announced that the two groups would no longer be called Unit B and Unit G, but rather UNB and UNI.T. At a fan meeting on March 3rd, further details about the contracts of the two groups were announced. Both groups should stay together for seven months and should not be allowed to perform with their actual groups during this time. These seven months are followed by a phase of six months in which she was allowed to return to her groups or agencies, but should be available for activities with her "unit group" for a total of 35 days.

2018: debut and final comeback

Uni.T officially debuted on May 18th with the EP Line and the single No More.

On August 15th, the first details of the group's comeback were announced. For the new album, the group worked with the South Korean producer Brave Brothers, who has already written songs for groups such as Big Bang , AOA and Brown Eyed Girls . On September 18th Uni.T's last mini-album Begin with the End was released together with the single I Mean ( 난 말야 ) . ZN is not heard on this album. She was with the original recordings and also participated in the preparations for the comeback. However, the release of Begin with the End was delayed and there were scheduling problems because ZN had also recorded a new album with Laboum. So it happened that she stayed with Laboum and continued Uni.T without her. The parts sung by ZN were re-recorded by the remaining members.

On October 12th, the group performed for the last time at Music Bank . After a fan meeting that followed, Uni.T finally broke up.
