Lee Taemin ( kor. 이 태민 ; born July 18, 1993 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a South Korean singer , dancer and actor .

Life

Taemin was born on July 18, 1993 in Dobong-gu, Seoul. He has a brother Taesun, who is 2 years older than him. As a child, he originally wanted to be a pilot, but that changed later. He became interested in music and learned to play the piano in elementary school. In 2005 Taemin was discovered in an audition by the talent agency SM Entertainment at the age of 12.

He has been a member of the South Korean boy band SHINee since 2008 . The band made their debut on May 25, 2008 on SBS's Inkigayo show . Kai, member of the band Exo , and Taemin are best friends.

He began his acting career in 2009 with MBC's comedy Tae Hee, Hye Kyo, Ji Hyun as Junsu .

In December 2011, Taemin was the voice actor in the Korean version of the film Outback - It's getting really wild! as Johnny, along with Girls' Generations Sunny . In 2013 he took part in the show WGM ( We got married ) with Na-eun from Apink .

Taemin went freelance as a solo singer and released his solo debut album The 1st Mini Album 'Ace' in August 2014 . It placed at number 1 on the album charts in South Korea. On August 15, he released a music video for the song Danger from his album.

He made his comeback with his album "Press It" in February 2016 and made his Japanese solo debut on February 26th with the Japanese version of Press Your Number .

In October 2017 Taemin celebrated his comeback with his second studio album Move, which reached number 2 on the South Korean album charts.

On August 7th, 2019 it was announced that Taemin is a member of the "k-pop supergroup" SuperM, which was founded by SM Entertainment in cooperation with Capitol Records. The group is to be active from October and is aimed at the American market. SuperM's debut EP of the same name, with the first single "Jopping", was released on October 4th, 2019.
