Sunny (born May 15, 1989 in Orange County , California , USA ), real name Susan Soonkyu Lee , is a South Korean singer , presenter and member of the band Girls' Generation .

Life

Sunny ( 써니 ) was born on May 15, 1989 in the USA . Shortly after she was born, she and her family moved to Kuwait . However, after the outbreak of the Second Gulf War , they moved back to South Korea , where Sunny grew up in Seoul . There she graduated from Paiwha Girls' High School. Her father Lee Su-yeong ( 이수영 ) works as a manager. She has two older sisters named Eun-gyu and Jin-gyu. The three sisters all have their birthdays on the same day. She is also the niece of Lee Soo-man , founder of SM Entertainment .

In 1998 Sunny became a member of a talent agency and was trained there over a number of years. However, the agency was dissolved and so she sang for SM Entertainment in 2007 on the basis of a suggestion and recommendation from singer Ahyoomee ( 아유미 ). In the same year she became a founding member of Girls' Generation there .

Sunny is single.

Career

Aside from her activities with Girls' Generation, Sunny has already moderated TV and radio programs and participated in some soundtracks . In 2008, Sunny appeared in the music video for “Yoriwang” (“ 요리 왕 ”; “Cooking? Cooking!”) By Super Junior Happy .

From February 3 to July 31, 2008 she was the DJ of the radio show Cheonbang Jichuk ( 천방지축 , also Chunji ), which was then discontinued.

The soundtrack of SBS telecast Working Mom , published on 8 August 2008, Sunny contributed the song "I Do not know love" ( " 사랑 을 몰라요 at"). 2009 Sunny worked with the track "Ijeseoya" (" durch ") on the soundtrack of the film Story of Wine . In the same year she and her bandmate Taeyeon contributed the song "Sarangingeoryo" (" 사랑 인걸요 ") to the soundtrack of the drama soap Heading to the Ground .

From the end of 2009 to June 2010, Sunny, like her bandmate Yuri , was part of the cast of the reality show Invincible Youth ( 청춘 불패 ; cheong-chun-bul-pae ) on KBS2 . In this TV format, seven stars from various South Korean girl groups farm in a small village. Due to the Japanese debut of Girls' Generation, Sunny, Yuri left the show together with Hyun A von 4minute .

She also moderated the music show The M on MTV Korea together with Kim Hyeong-jun from SS501 and Seulong from 2AM . However, she left the show due to her tight schedule with Girls' Generation. She hosted The M for the last time on April 4, 2010. In April 2010, the song "Geudae Inhyeong" (" 그대 인형 ") was also featured on the soundtrack of the TV series Oh! My Lady ( 오! 마이 레이디 ) released.

Along with Hyoyeon and six other pop stars, she is a regular member of the second season of Invincible Youth . The broadcast began on November 11, 2011. Since February 2012, she has hosted the music program Music Island on SBS MTV. From March 28 to June 10, 2012, she starred in the role of "Brenda Strong" in the South Korean version of the musical Catch Me If You Can .

Girls' generation

The South Korean girls 'group Girls' Generation ( 소녀 시대 ; 少女 時代 ) was founded in 2007 by SM Entertainment . On August 2, 2007 her first single " Into the New World " was released. The first album Girls' Generation was the first by a girl group since 2002, which sold over 100,000 copies in South Korea. The group was able to build on this success with the following album and EPs.

In 2009 the group achieved a huge success with the title " Gee ". With the song, the group set a new record in the KBS telecast Music Bank on by reaching the top spot nine consecutive weeks.

Furthermore, Girls' Generation are popular advertising media and advertised, among other things, Nexon , Nintendo , the Caribbean Bay water park , and the city of Seoul . In August 2010, the group began to relocate their musical activities to Japan. In addition, the group has been on a tour of Asia since the end of 2009.
