4minute ( 포 미닛 ) was a South Korean girl group that was founded in 2009 by the Cube Entertainment label . In June 2016, Cube Entertainment confirmed the dissolution of the group.

history

The establishment of 4minute was announced in May 2009, together with the two members Kim Hyun-ah and Nam Ji-hyun. On June 11, 2009, a 35-second video preview was published online showing the silhouettes of the 5 singers. In addition, the official website has been “activated”. The identities of the other three members were kept secret until June 12th. On June 15, 2009, their debut single Hot Issue was released. A few hours after the song was released, it climbed various digital music charts, including Cyworld , Bugs, Soribada and Mnet . 4minute made their debut performances between June 18th and 21st with the song Hot Issue on Mnet M! Countdown, KBS Music bank, MBC Music Core and SBS Popular Music show. They won the “Newbie of the Month” digital music award for June and August.

At the end of August, the mini-album For Muzik was released , which includes the new single Muzik .

The group was dissolved in June 2016. HyunA renewed her contract with Cube Entertainment and is now active as a solo singer.

Controversy

On August 27, 2009, Korean broadcaster KBS stopped playing the song Won't Give (안 줄래) due to the sexual content of the lyrics. The record company Cube Entertainment announced that it was very disappointed with the decision.
