The Wonder Girls (Korean: 원더 걸스 ) were a South Korean girl group . You are under contract with JYP Entertainment in South Korea and Sony Music Entertainment Japan in Japan . All five members of the band were selected through various auditions and made their debut in February 2007.
Since then, they have had four consecutive number 1 hits with Tell Me , So Hot , Nobody and 2 Different Tears, and in 2008 they won two Daesang's "Artist of the Year" awards . With their Youtube hit Like Money , the band reached number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100 .
The band broke up on January 26, 2017. Her last single Draw Me (Korean: 그려 줘) was released on February 10, 2017.
Band members
There are three former band members: Hyuna left the band for health reasons shortly before the release of Tell Me in 2007 and has been a member of the group 4minute since 2009 . In 2010 Sunmi postponed her music career to continue her school career. However, since there is no official notification of an exit, it is still partially regarded as a member. In the current comeback, which is scheduled for August 3, 2015, she will be there again.
Sohee was the group's front dancer. She made her acting debut as a supporting actress in the film 뜨거운 것이 좋아 , Hellcats . She also starred in 8eight's music video Without a Heart . In December 2013 she left the group.
- Min Sun-ye 민선예 , 閔 先 藝 ; * August 12, 1989 has the stage name "Sunye" in Asia and "Sun" in America. She takes the position of the band leader and main singer. In 2001 she took part in the casting show 99% Challenge Project and was inducted into the JYP Academy at the age of 12 . She trained for almost six years to debut as the band leader for the Wonder Girls. She has worked with many different artists, such as 8eight , Park Jin-young and Mighty Mouth . She also sang a song for two television series: 일월지 가 , Sun and Moon for 한성 별곡 , Conspiracy in the Court and Maybe for Dream High .
- Park Ye-eun 박예은 , 朴 譽 恩 ; * May 26th 1989 has the stage name "Yeeun" in Asia and "Yenny" in America. She takes the position of the lead singer in the group. She joined the group as the last member in 2007 just before the debut. She has worked with many different artists, such as 8eight , H-Eugene and San-E. She sang the song 正 , Jeong , for the television series 한성 별곡 , Conspiracy in the Court with Jay Park . She composed and wrote the songs Saying I love you , For Wonderful , Smile and GNO .
- Kim Yu-bin 김유빈 , 金 瑜 斌 ; * October 4th, 1988 is known under the name "Yubin" or "Yoobin" and is the rapper of the group. She is the oldest of the group and joined the group after Hyun-ah left the group. She made her official debut on September 7, 2007. She can also be seen in the music video of 2PM's 10 out of 10 , as well as in Shinhwa's Once in a Lifetime . As a rapper is it heard in songs of Shinhwa members Lee Andy , Lee Min-woo and singer Kim Bum-soo and Chun G . She was supposed to make her debut in the girl group Five Girls together with G.NA , After Schools UEE, Secrets Hyosung and also with the former T-ara member Yang Jiwon in a band. But for financial reasons this did not happen and the members switched to different labels. Yubin wrote her own rap lyrics for Girls Girls , Sweet Dreams and Me, In on the Wonder World album .
- Woo Hye-rim 우 혜림 , 禹惠林 ; * September 1, 1992 is also known as "Hyerim", "Hyelim" and "Lim". Her American name is "Christina Woo". She takes the position of singer, main dancer and second rapper in the group. She joined the group after Sunmi's break in 2010 became known. Hyerim was born in Seoul but grew up in China. Because of this, she can speak four languages fluently: English, Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Her debut was actually planned with Miss A. Hyerim wrote her own rap lyrics for the song Act Cool from the Wonder World album .
