T-ara ( kor. 티아라 ; IPA [ tʰiara ]) is a South Korean girl group that was founded in 2009 by Mnet Media . Before that, some band members participated in films, TV series or music videos.

history

In April 2009, the then five girls released their first song " 좋은 사람 " (" Joeun Saram ") for the soundtrack of the South Korean soap Cinderella Man . In June 2009, Yang Ji-won and band leader Lee Ji-ae left the group. The following month, Boram, Soyeon, and Qri became members of the group and Eunjung became the new leader. On July 9th, 2009 it was announced that the band will be looked after by Mnet Media's subsidiary Core Contents Media . In addition, the group released their debut single " 거짓말 " (" Geojitmal ") on July 27, 2009 . The single contains a total of four songs and reached number 5 on the South Korean GAON Music Charts .

debut

Officially debuted T-ara on 29 July 2009 in the Variety show Radio Star radio station MBC . The music video for " Geojitmal " also premiered on the show. The group had their first appearance in the Mnets music show M! Countdown in which she uses the titles “ Geojitmal ” and “ Norabollae? "(" 놀아 볼래? ") Sang . However, it was criticized that the group sang playback . The band then announced that they would sing live in the future.

T-ara members Eunjung, Soyeon, Hyomin and Jiyeon sang the song "TTL (Time to Love)" with members of the boy band Supernova , which was released on September 15, 2009 and reached number 2 on the GAON Music Charts in October . The follow-up song "TTL Listen 2", in which all six members of T-ara participated this time, was published digitally on October 9, 2009 and made it to number 14 on the South Korean music charts.

Absolute first album

T-ara in 2011

On November 27, 2009, T-ara's Absolute First Album was released digitally. As a result, teaser videos for the titles "Bo Peep Bo Peep" and " 처음 처럼 " (" Cheoeum Cheoreom ") were published. Fans could choose which song T-ara should promote on music portals such as Mnet, MelOn, Nate, Cyworld , Soribada and others. On November 30, 2009, a music video for "Cheoeum Cheoreom" and two versions of "Bo Peep Bo Peep" (a 15+ version and a 19+ version) were released. On the music portal GOM TV , the 15+ version of “Bo Peep Bo Peep” promptly took first place among the most popular music videos of the day. The 19+ version came in fourth, while “Cheoeum Cheoreom” came in second. On December 2nd, the result of the vote was announced and “Cheoeum Cheoreom” won with 53% of the votes cast. On December 4, 2009, T-ara's first album with 14 music tracks was released physically.

At the end of 2009, T-ara and the band 4minute won the Newcomer Award of the Golden Disk Awards . T-ara's successful streak continued in 2010. On January 1, 2010, T-ara received the “Mutizen” award for “Bo Peep Bo Peep” on the KBS music show Music Bank , which honors the best performance on the show. Overall, “Bo Peep Bo Peep” won three times at Music Bank and four times at SBS The Music Trend .

On February 3, 2010, OnGameNet began broadcasting two episodes of the reality show 티아라 월드 ( T-ara World ), in which the girls run a shopping mall. On February 17, 2010, the broadcast was continued under the name 티아라 닷컴 ( T-aradotcom ). In this program, the group is building its own shopping website. The series, which was broadcast weekly, ended on April 21 after 10 episodes. From February to May 2010, the Group with its online store Taradot.com 499,200 US dollars . According to Core Contents Media, the site is now an artist's third largest online shop.

On March 3, 2010 the group released the repackage album Breaking Heart with two new songs, " 너 때문에 미쳐 " (" Neo Ttaemune Micheo ") and " 내가 너무 아파 " (" Naega Neomu Apa "). The album reached second place on the GAON Music Chart. The song " Neo Ttaemune Micheo " was at the top of the GAON singles charts for two weeks.

T-ara released the title “We Are The One” (“ 16 강 기원 응원가 ”) on May 3, in line with the 2010 soccer World Cup .

On July 16, 2010 it was announced that Ryu Hwa-young will become the seventh member of T-ara. In addition, Boram now takes on the role of the band leader. In addition, Core Contents Media announced that the position of the band leader will change every year. This was decided beforehand by the band members.

In the summer of 2012 they released their Japanese debut album Jewelry Box . They gave their eponymous Japan-wide tour at the same time.

On July 30, 2012, Ryu Hwa-young left the girl group after one year and eight months.

In early August 2010, a mobile game from Omnitel with the title "„ 의 리듬 터치 "(" Tiaraui Rideumteochi ") was released. The player has to find the right notes for the songs of T-ara.
