After School ( 애프터 스쿨 ) was founded in 2009, South Korean girl group that the record company Pledis Entertainment was under contract.
Chart successes
After first appearances at the end of 2008, the first single Ah! the initially five-member group in January 2009, which advanced to number 13 in the Korean singles charts in February. Several personnel changes and single releases followed in the course of 2009.
Several of these singles, which were also released on EPs, reached the top of the official GAON charts again. So the single Bang! At the end of March 2010 advance to number two on the GAON charts after the previous single Neo Ddaemunae (너 때문에, "Because of You") even reached the top position in December 2009. Together with the Japanese artist Namie Amuro , they recorded the song Make it Happen .
Awards
In January 2010, the band received the K-pop New Artist of the Year 2009 award for best Korean newcomer band at the Billboard Japan Music Awards ceremony in Tokyo . In February 2010 they were named the best newcomer of the year at the High1 Seoul Music Awards 2010 together with the groups T-ara and Beast .
Division and other activities
Since July 6, 2010, the members of the group can be seen on the reality show Play Girlz School , which is broadcast on the MBC cable channel every1 .
In July 2011, the management of the eight-piece band announced that the singers would be split into AS Red & Blue , two units of four members. In the same month the singles In The Night Sky (Red) and Wonder Boy (Blue) were released.
outlook
Although no new singles or LPs from After School have been released since 2012, the group is still considered active and has not been officially disbanded to this day. This limbo was confirmed by the record company in 2017, which stated in a statement that the band still exists, but no new projects or promotions were planned. Clearer signs of disintegration became apparent in May 2017 when the band member Uee decided to leave the "Zombie Idol Group".
