Pledis Entertainment is a South Korean artist agency and record label . The company was founded in 2007 by Han Sung Soo, a former dancer with SM Entertainment . The focus is on the casting of individual artists and music groups, the so-called idols .

After Pledis failed to achieve the hoped-for commercial success with the singer Son Dam Bi in 2007 , the girl group After School was set up in 2009 . With her, the label made its breakthrough; the band reached the top ten in South Korea as well as in the Japanese Oricon charts with their releases . In 2010, Pledis formed the girl group Orange Caramel from the members of After School and in 2011 AS Red and Blue . The releases of both bands also reached the top ten in the South Korean charts.

At the same time, the label announced that it would also look for talent outside of South Korea in the future. In the fall of 2011, auditions took place in Los Angeles and San Francisco . In 2012, NU'EST, a boy band, was presented for the first time in label history . In May 2012 Pledis' new girl group Hello Venus also made its debut . In 2015 the boy band Seventeen was introduced. This consisted of 13 members who were divided into further units (performance, hip-hop and vocal unit).

Nayoung and Jieqiong were both trainees from Pledis Entertainment, by participating in the TV show Produce101 in 2015, they both managed to join the IOI group, which was to exist for one year. In 2016, another South Korean girl group appeared called Pristin (also known as Plediz Girls). Pristin was founded because Nayoung and Jieqiong's contract with IOI (under YMC Entertainment) was expiring. Pristin consists of 10 members: Nayoung, Minkyung, Kyungwon, Eunwoo, Yebin, Jieqiong, Yewon, Sungyeon, Siyeon and Kyla.
