Hello Venus ( Korean 헬로 비너스 ; stylized spelling HEL LOVE NUS) was a South Korean girl group that was founded in 2012 by Tricell Media, a joint venture of the two agencies Fantagio and Pledis Entertainment . The group officially debuted on May 9, 2012 with the mini-album Venus and the single of the same name. The group's official fan club name is "Hello Cupid". The dissolution of the group was announced on April 26, 2019.

history

2012: Debut with Venus

On April 24, 2012, Pledis Entertainment announced that Hello Venus would debut on May 9. The group at the time consisted of Yoo Ara and Yoonjo from Pledis Entertainment and Alice, Nara, Lime and Yooyoung from Fantagio. Yoo Ara and Yoonjo were originally supposed to become members of the girl group After School , but Pledis Entertainment finally decided against it and brought them both up with Hello Venus. Alice was already active as a solo artist under the name Ora in 2010. However, she canceled the contract with her old agency and sued them because she did not feel well managed and trained. She also found the outfits to wear to appearances too revealing. Due to the revealing outfits and choreographies, your music video was rated 19+ and was not allowed to be broadcast. A court agreed and the agency had to pay Alice compensation.

On the 9th, Hello Venus officially debuted with the EP Venus and the single of the same name.

The second EP What Are You Doing Today? was released on December 12th.

2013–2015: Yoo Aras and Yoonjo's exit and new members

On May 2nd, 2013 Hello Venus released their third EP Would You Stay for Tea? together with the single of the same name.

On July 31, 2014, Tricell Media announced that the two agencies Pledis Entertainment and Fantagio would not continue their joint venture. Yoo Ara and Yoonjo then left the group and went back to Pledis Entertainment. In November 2014, Yoo Ara left Pledis Entertainment and signed a contract with Urban Works Entertainment on December 1st. In 2015 she went to Japan and got a leading role in the Japanese musical "The Moon that Embraces the Sun". Yoonjo became a trainee at Pledis again. She took in 2017 at the talent show "The Unit" part and became a member of the temporary girl group UNI.T . From then on, Hello Venus consisted only of the remaining four members and from then on was looked after solely by Fantagio.

On October 22, 2014, Seoyoung and Yeoreum were introduced as new members of the group. Hello Venus released the single Sticky Sticky on November 6th, now again as a group of six . The follow-up single Wiggle Wiggle was released on January 5th, 2015 . On July 22nd, the EP I'm Ill was released along with the single of the same name.

Since 2016: Wiggle Wiggle and Mystery of Venus

On May 5th, 2016 Fantagio announced the release of the digital single "Glow". The single was created in collaboration with the Devine Channel production team. "Glow" was released on May 10th. In the period that followed, two more digital singles appeared, which were created together with Devine Channel: "Paradise" was released on July 16 and "Runway" on November 1.

On January 11th, 2017 the EP Mystery of Venus was released together with the single Mysterious .

On April 26, 2019, Fantagio announced the breakup of the group. Alice and Nara did not want to extend their contracts, which ended in May 2019, and to leave the agency. Seoyoung and Yeoreum stay with Fantagio. At this point in time, Yooyoung and Lime were still negotiating a contract extension with the agency. However, all six members have chosen to focus on their solo careers.
