Yoona (born May 30, 1990 in Seoul ), full name Lim Yoona , is a South Korean singer , dancer , actress and member of the Girls' Generation group . She made her acting debut in 2007 in the K-drama 9 End 2 Outs .

Life

Yoona was born on May 30, 1990 in the South Korean capital Seoul . In 2002 she auditioned at the SM Saturday Open Audition and became a member of the company. She was trained in acting, singing and dancing by SM Entertainment .

On February 11, 2009, Yoona graduated from Daeyeong High School ( 대영 고등학교 ) in Seoul. She is currently attending the Dongguk University in Seoul in the field of theater and music.

Yoona is single and has blood type B. She is also a member of 문미 엔 ( Munmien ), a Christian group of stars from the cultural entertainment industry who come together to pray.

Career

During her time as a trainee at SM Entertainment and before her membership in Girls' Generation from 2007, Yoona participated in several commercials and modeled for various magazines. Meanwhile, Yoona shot commercials for Clean & Clear, Innisfree Cosmetics and S-Oil , among others . She also appeared in some music videos from other SM Town artists.

Yoona made her acting debut in 2007 in the soap opera 9 End 2 Outs . In 2008 she starred in two episodes of the drama series Cheonhailsaek Bakjeonggeum before starring in the soap Neoneun Nae Unmyeong . The show was very popular in South Korea and achieved a market share of the total audience of up to 41.5%. For her role as Jang Sae-byeok in Neoneun Nae Unmyeong , she received several notable awards. In 2009, Yoona played in the drama series Cinderella Man at the side of Kwon Sang-woo, a college graduate from a prestigious Paris fashion school, who returns to South Korea and struggles there as an employee when her father suddenly dies.

2010 Yoona was part of the cast of the variety show 패밀리 가 떴다 2 ( Family Outing Season 2 ) of the station SBS . The broadcast of the season ended on July 11, 2010.

Together with her bandmates Seohyun and Yuri , she appeared in the music video for “Caribbean Bay (Cabi)” (“ 캐리비안 베이 (캐비) ”) alongside 2PMs Taecyeon, Nichkhun and Chansung. The song is from Girls' Generation and 2PM and is part of the large-scale advertising campaign for Everlands Water Park Caribbean Bay .

On August 30, 2010, Yoona's first solo song "Innisfree Day" was released, the promotional song for a tissue campaign by Innisfree Cosmetics. In 2020, Yoona's contract with Innisfree, an Amorepacific cosmetics brand that advertises Jeju Island natural healing , ended. She was the face of the brand for eleven years.

In 2019 she starred in the action comedy Exit .

Girls' generation

The South Korean girls group Girls' Generation was founded in 2007 by SM Entertainment . Yoona was the first band member to be announced and introduced. The presentations of the eight other members took place on the following days. The group made their official debut on August 5, 2007 on the music show Inkigayo . The first album Girls' Generation was the first by a girl group since 2002, which sold over 100,000 copies in South Korea. The group was able to build on this success with the following album and EPs.

In 2009 the group achieved a huge success with the title " Gee ". With the song, the group set a new record on KBS show Music Bank by finishing in first place for nine consecutive weeks.

On December 31, 2009, Yoona was honored to star in Girls' Generation and 2PM's special appearance at MBC Gayo Daejun . Yoona and Taecyeon from 2PM form lovers during their musical performance in the course of the K-Pop event.

Furthermore, Girls' Generation are popular advertising media and advertise for Nintendo and the city of Seoul , among others . In August 2010, the group began to expand their musical activities to Japan.
