Sonamoo ( Korean 소나무 , stylized spelling SONAMOO ) is a South Korean girl group founded by TS Entertainment in 2014 . The group officially debuted on December 29, 2014 with the mini-album Deja Vu . Sonamoo's official fan club name is "Solbangul".

history

2014–2015: Debut with Deja Vu

On May 29, 2014 TS Entertainment announced the formation of a new girl group and named Nahyun as the first member of this group. The debut was scheduled for July 2014. On July 2nd, NewSun was announced as the second member. On October 15, the group's name, Sonamoo, was published and Euijin was introduced as the third member. In the following time, more teasers of the new group were published until finally on December 14th all names of the seven-member group were published.

On December 29, Sonamoo officially debuted with the mini-album Deja Vu and the single of the same name. Deja Vu debuted at number 1 on the Gaon Album Charts.

On February 25th, the group released their second single Just Go .

On July 20, Sonamoos released the second mini album Cushion and the single of the same name. On September 1, Round N Round was released as the second single from the mini-album.

2016–2018: I Like You Too Much and Happy Box project

On June 29, 2016, Sonamoo released their third mini-album I Like You Too Much ( 넘나 좋은 것 ) together with the single of the same name.

In September it was announced that Nahyun had gotten a leading role in the web series The Miracle . The series started in December. Nahyun plays a twin who swaps bodies with his dissimilar sister.

On January 9, 2017, the group's first single album was released with the name I Think I Love You ( 나 너 좋아해? ) .

From May to June D.ana took part in the KBS TV show "Idol Drama Operation Team". Seven members from different girl groups work as scriptwriters and write a series called Let's Only Walk on the Flower Road . In this resulting series, everyone plays themselves as fictional characters. The result of this series was the girl group "Girls Next Door" with D.ana, Moonbyul (from the group Mamamoo ), Seulgi ( Red Velvet ), Kim So-hee (IBI), YooA ( Oh My Girl ), Sujeong ( Lovelyz ) and Jeon So-mi ( IOI ). "Girls Next Door" made its debut on July 14th on the Music Bank music show under the title Deep Blue Eyes . Let's Only Walk on the Flower Road aired on KBS from June 26th to July 3rd.

On June 27th TS Entertainment presented Sonamoos "Happy Box-Project". The message said the group would release a single every month for three months. On August 14th the first single of this project was released: Friday Night ( 금요일 밤 ) .

From October 28, 2017 to February 24, 2018, Euijin took part in the KBS TV show "The Unit". On the show, former and current K-pop idols got a second chance and battled to become part of a nine-member girl or boy group. Euijin was selected at No. 1 at the last voting of the show and is therefore a member of the temporary girl group UNI.T become. The group debuted on May 18, 2018 with the mini-album Line and the single No More . Uni.T dissolved again in October 2018.

Part 2 of the Happy Box project: I (Knew It) was released on November 6, 2017 .

2019: Dispute with TS Entertainment and Promise You

At the end of September 2019, it was announced that Nahyun and Sumin had sued TS Entertainment in August to force the termination of their contracts. TS Entertainment later confirmed this while also announcing that Sonamoo would continue as a group of five, excluding Nahyun and Sumin.

On October 23, the single Promise You was released .
