Oh My Girl ( Korean 오마이 걸 , stylized spelling OH! MYGIRL or OMG ) is a South Korean girl group founded by WM Entertainment in 2015. The group officially debuted on April 21, 2015 with the mini-album Oh My Girl . The official fan club name is "Miracle" .

history

2015: Debut with Oh My Girl

On April 20, 2015, Oh My Girl officially debuted with the mini-album Oh My Girl and the single Cupid . A day later they appeared for the first time in public on the music show "The Show".

On October 7, the group released their second mini-album Closer along with the single of the same name.

On December 9th, Oh My Girl was refused entry into the US because the US immigration authorities thought the girls were prostitutes. The group wanted to attend an event in Los Angeles and hold a photo shoot for the new album. The authorities considered the large amount of luggage and the girls' ages to be indications that they should work as prostitutes in the United States. It was also criticized that they wanted to enter with the wrong visa. After 15 hours the group flew back to South Korea.

2016: Pink Ocean and Jine's time out

On March 21, 2016, Step by Step ( 한 발짝 두 발짝 ) , the advance single for the new mini-album Pink Ocean , was released, which was released on March 28 together with the single Liar Liar . In addition, the official fan club name was announced: "Miracle".

On May 26th, Pink Ocean was named Windy Day . The mini-album contained the two new titles Windy Day and Stupid in Love .

On July 15th, WM Entertainment announced that Oh My Girl would release a special summer album. On August 1st, Listen to My Word , the group's first single album, was released. The album features four cover versions of classic K-pop songs that have been rearranged. In addition, all four titles contain raps written by Mimi. Listen to My Word became Oh My Girl's first number one album .

On August 25, WM Entertainment announced that JinE would not participate in any further group activities for the time being. JinE had been suffering from anorexia for a long time . Since her health did not improve, it was agreed that she would take a break in order to be treated better.

2017: Coloring Book and Jine's exit

On April 3, 2017, Coloring Book , the group's fourth mini-album, was released along with the single of the same name. Since JinE was still under treatment, she was not featured on the album and did not perform with the group.

From May to June, YooA took part in the KBS TV show "Idol Drama Operation Team". Seven members from different girl groups work as scriptwriters and write a series called "Let's Only Walk on the Flower Road". In this resulting series, everyone plays themselves as fictional characters. The result of this series was the girl group "Girls Next Door" with YooA, Moonbyul (from the group Mamamoo ), Seulgi ( Red Velvet ), D.ana ( Sonamoo ), Kim So-hee (IBI), Sujeong ( Lovelyz ) and Jeon So-mi ( IOI ). "Girls Next Door" made its debut on July 14th on the Music Bank music show under the title Deep Blue Eyes . "Let's Only Walk on the Flower Road" aired on KBS from June 26th to July 3rd.

On October 30, WM Entertainment announced that Jine's contract with the agency had been terminated and that it would be leaving the group with immediate effect.

2018: Secret Garden, Oh My Girl Banhana and Remember Me

On January 9th, 2018, the fifth mini-album Secret Garden was released together with the single of the same name. With Secret Garden , the group won music shows for the first time.

On April 2, the mini-album Banana Allergy Monkey ( 바나나 알러지 원숭이 ) was released together with the single of the same name. The album is the first release of the new subgroup Oh My Girl Banhana , consisting of Hyojung, Binnie and Arin.

On June 11, WM Entertainment announced that Oh My Girl Banhana was preparing to make its debut in Japan. The album Banana Allergy Monkey was released on August 29th. It was also announced that they are planning to debut with the entire group in Japan. However, no specific plans have yet been published.

On September 10th, Oh My Girl released the mini-album Remember Me along with the single of the same name.

2019 – present: Japan Debut, The Fifth Season and Fall in Love

At the beginning of January 2019 the group gave a few concerts in Japan before the Japanese debut album of the entire group was released on January 9th. The album, called OH MY GIRL JAPAN DEBUT ALBUM, contains Japanese versions of several Korean singles and made it to number 1 on the daily Oricon album charts. The album was also released in South Korea on March 15, 2019.

Oh My Girl released their first studio album called The Fifth Season on May 8, 2019, along with the single SSFWL ( 다섯 번째 계절 ). A month later, on July 3, 2019, the group released Oh My Girl Japan 2nd Album, their second album in Japan.

On August 5th, 2019 Oh My Girl released the album The Fifth Season again, but with two new songs under the title Fall in Love .
