The Goethe-school Auerbach is a high school in the form of a Ganztagsschule in Auerbach / Vogtl.
history
In 1895 the city fathers decided to build a new central school due to public pressure due to poor school materials and school buildings. This was built on the newly acquired Keffels Wiese . Ten years later, the central part of the building caught fire. After initial disputes, the damage was repaired. The school functioned as a comprehensive school until 1990 when it was converted into a grammar school. Two years later the advanced upper level was introduced. After the closure of the secondary school in Falkenstein, the students switched to the Goethe secondary school in Auerbach. First came the secondary level II students. One year later, in 1995, all the remaining students switched to the Goethe Gymnasium Auerbach. In 2004, the renovation of the building began. This has now been completed.
subjects
In grade 6, every student begins a second foreign language, with French, Latin and Spanish being offered in Auerbach. In addition to the normal school subjects, the school offers another, very young subject called CoMa ( computer mathematics ). It goes back to the initiative of a teacher and has been recognized as a subject by the Saxon Ministry of Culture. CoMa combines mathematics with computer science and tries to solve math problems with the help of programming.
As an all-day school, the high school offers lunches, homework supervision and a wide variety of work groups, e.g. B. SportAGs, ComputerAGs, KunstAG, TheaterAG, reading club, etc. There is also a working group that deals with Wikisource .
Profile choice
As a profile (from grade 8) you can choose from 3 different profiles in Auerbach: - Natural science profile (abbreviation: NAWI) - Linguistic profile - Artistic profile (abbreviation: KüPro)
At NAWI you have additional lessons in physics , chemistry and biology , in the linguistic profile you learn the foreign language Russian and in the artistic profile you have additional lessons in music and art .
In addition, the scientific and artistic profile are supplemented by one topic-related computer science lesson per week.
school-building
The school building can be roughly divided into a main building, a connecting part and a sports hall complex. The building is a clinker brick building. There are two main entrances to the east (towards the city center) and two side entrances to the west, two main staircases and, since the renovation, additional staircases and emergency exits on the north and south sides.
The school also has a large auditorium for celebrations, a cafeteria and dining room, a school library and free lockers for every student. In addition, the specialist cabinets and all classrooms are equipped with modern technology. There are several computer rooms and so-called media corners that the students can use for school projects and also privately.
Solar system
In the north schoolyard there is a 7.729 square meter photovoltaic system with an efficiency of around 18 percent.
