History of origin
After the band The Great Divide had formed in 1992, the four musicians decided two years later to record a first album in order to increase their popularity. First they were able to win the Texas country singer Gary P. Nunn , who eventually contributed to the title Alive & Well , for their project. The group, which received financial support from friends, hired multi-instrumentalist Lloyd Maines as a producer . She worked with him for two weeks at the Caldwell Studios in Lubbock, Texas.
The band initially released Goin 'for Broke under their own label Broken Records. In September 1995 the CD was released on the Campfire Records label. A single was not released. The follow-up album Break in the Storm , which helped the band to a contract with Atlantic Records , came out in 1996.
reception
Despite the low level of awareness of the band and the lack of airplay, the album sold more than ten thousand, and according to other sources even twenty thousand times.
