Michael "Mike" Ray McClure (born July 6, 1971 in Tecumseh , Oklahoma ) is an American country singer , songwriter and music producer . He has been the front man of The Great Divide since 1992, with an eight year hiatus . Since the early 2000s, he has also been active as a solo artist and with the Mike McClure Band .

biography

McClure was born in 1971 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma and spent his childhood there. He wrote his first songs at the age of ten. He began to study in the nearby town of Seminole . When he moved to Stillwater in 1990 to complete his studies at Oklahoma State University , he met other Red Dirt artists such as Jimmy LaFave and Tom Skinner in the "Farm" .

In 1992 he and friends founded the country band The Great Divide , which released six albums from 1995 to 2002. In the early 2000s, McClure decided to make itself independent of the group. While this found a new singer with Micah Aills, McClure decided after the release of his solo album Twelve Pieces to join a band again. Together with Tom Skinner and Eric Hansen he founded the Mike McClure Band , which has been very active since 2004 and has released several albums. His second album without the band followed in 2011 with 50 billion . McClure writes his own songs and also produces them.

McClure is one of the owners of the independent label 598 Records and operates the Boohatch Studio in Ada , Oklahoma .

McClure lives in Ada (as of 2014). He is married and has two daughters.
