The Golay Buchel Holding SA , based in Lausanne was an internationally active Swiss jewelery company. Their activities focused on the processing and distribution of cultured pearls , diamonds , colored gemstones and gold jewelry . The company was on the Swiss Exchange SWX Swiss Exchange listed . The majority shareholder was the Geneva- based Norinvest Holding SA .

history

The company was founded in 1887 by Louis-Auguste Golay in Le Sentier , in the Vallée de Joux . Golay initially traded in natural pearls, precious stones and other products for jewelers and watch manufacturers.

In 1985 the company went public. With the establishment of the branch chain Oro Vivo , Golay expanded into the watch and jewelry retail sector in 1987 . In 1999 Golay founded the joint venture Signity together with the Swarovski Group , at the same time the organizational structure of Golay was divided into the three divisions of production, wholesale and retail.

At its peak in 2000, the group employed 1,900 people and achieved sales of 325 million francs. With the sale of the retail division Oro Vivo in 2004 and the stake in Signity in 2006, Golay began a drastic disinvestment phase . The company was liquidated in 2016.
