Siegburg gymnastics club

The Siegburger Turnverein 1862/92 eV is the largest sports club in Siegburg with over 2000 members . It was founded on July 14, 1862 in the Herrengarten restaurant.

Departments

The club is divided into 13 departments, including badminton , basketball , cheerleading , fistball , soccer , handball , canoeing , Nordic walking , skiing , dancing , tennis , gymnastics and volleyball .

Club facilities

The club maintains a sports facility with a youth home in the Brückberg district , a tennis facility in the Stallberg district and a boat and club house on the Sieg .

successes

Fistball

The women's team in the fistball department rose to the 2nd Bundesliga fistball division for the first time in 1996, both in the field and in the hall . From 1999 to 2002 she played continuously indoors in the second Bundesliga.

Canoeists

For years, athletes from the canoe department have regularly taken part in national and international competitions in white water racing and have won several titles.

The club's most successful canoeist is the multiple German champion Sabine Füßer , who was runner-up in the sprint and third in the classic distance of 4 kilometers at the 2004 World Championships on the Loisach in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . At the 2008 World Championships in Ivrea , she won bronze in the sprint distance and silver with the team. At the 2009 European Championships on the Adda in Italy , she was European Champion in the Sprint, Classic and Classic Team. At the 2010 World Championships in Sort (Lleida) , she and her team won the silver medal in the Sprint team.

athletics

The most successful athlete of the club was the multiple German and European champion Annette Weiss , who was world champion (W35) in the 1500 and 3000 meter races at the 1st indoor senior world championships in Sindelfingen in March 2004. At the Senior World Championship in 2006 in Linz , Austria , she won the 800 and 1500 meter titles and was runner-up in the 3000 meter world championship. In 2007 Annette Weiss left the Siegburg gymnastics club and moved to LG Troisdorf / Bonn / Niederkassel.
