Goldie Harvey

Goldie Harvey (* 23. October 1983 in Lagos as Susan Oluwabimpe Filani ; † 14. February 2013 ibid) was a Nigerian R & B singer. In her music career she won various African music prizes, including the Top Naija Award .

Life

Filani was born in 1983 at the Ikeja Medical Center in Lagos, the daughter of the then General Manager of the Central Bank of Nigeria , Olabisi Betty Filani, and the director of Access Bank.

This was followed by school visits at the Green Springs Montessori Primary School. Filani later attended St. John's College in Palm Grove, Lagos State, where she learned Christian religious knowledge. After graduating from St. John's College, she went to the University of Sunderland for her business management degree. There she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2006 and returned to Nigeria. She started her music career and released her first single Komole under the successful producer OJB Jazzreel . Three more singles followed with Spin Me, Nothing has Changed and Shift . Her four singles became part of a compilation . After the music industry stalled in the following years, it wasn't until 2010 that she signed her first major record deal with the Kennis Music label. There she released her first album with gold in the same year. With this she won the Best Female Video Award at the 2010 SoundCity Music Video Awards for her video for the single You Know It . In the same year she was also able to win the title for best costume in a Nigerian music video as part of the Nigerian Music Video Awards for her single Jawo Jawo.

In 2005 Filani married the British Andrew Harvey, as it became publicly known only after her death. In 2012 Filani took part in Big Brother Africa , where she met the Kenyan rapper Prezzo. The relationship between the two has been publicly reported, but according to Harvey's husband, it was only part of the show.

Upon her return from the 2013 Grammy Awards , Harvey complained of a headache and went to Reddington Hospital on Victoria Island , Lagos State . There she died on February 14, 2013 of complications from a cerebral haemorrhage .
