The golden-backed bullfinch ( Pyrrhula aurantiaca ) is a species from the goldfinch-like subfamily . The species occurs exclusively in the northwest of the Himalayas . The habitat are coniferous forests and forest edges. The IUCN classifies the species as not endangered ( least concern ). The species has probably never been imported into Europe.
features
The golden-backed bullfinch reaches a body length of up to fourteen centimeters. There is a gender dimorphism .
The face mask is black like many other common bullfinches . However, it only extends to the coat. The upper and lower sides of the body are orange in the male. The wings and tail are black. The wings have white bands. The rump is also typically white. The females are more gray-brown. The underside of the body is more yellow than the male.
