The Goldstreif Wood Warbler ( Basileuterus belli ) is a small songbird from the wood warbler family (Parulidae).

Goldstreif wood warbler reach a body length of thirteen centimeters and weigh around eleven grams. The wing length is 5 to 6 centimeters in the male, 4.8 to 5.8 centimeters in the female. Adult golden warbler and young birds from the first year onwards have an orange-red parting, depending on the subspecies black side stripes and a wide yellow superciliar stripe that extends to the neck. The cheeks are orange-red; the rest of the head plumage yellow. The upper side plumage is olive green; the throat and chest area yellow and the underside plumage yellow-green.

The distribution area extends from Mexico via Guatemala to Honduras and El Salvador . Goldstreif wood warblers inhabit moist oak , pine and cloud forests at altitudes of 1,300 to 3,500 meters. The breeding season takes place between March and July.

There are five recognized subspecies:

  • Basileuterus belli scitulus ( Nelson , 1900) - Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador
  • Basileuterus belli subobscurus ( Wetmore , 1940) - Honduras,
  • Basileuterus belli belli (Giraud Jr, 1841) - In the east of Mexico
  • Basileuterus belli bateli ( RT Moore , 1946) - In western Mexico
