Golloborda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Golloborda ( Albanian also Gollobordë and Gollobërda or Gollobërdë , Bulgarian : Голо Бърдо , Macedonian : Голо Брдо ) is a mountainous region in eastern Albania . A small part of this stretch of land on the Black Drin belongs to North Macedonia . The most important localities are Ostren i Madh, Shupenza, Trebishta, Ostren i Vogel and Okshtun i Madh , which are all in the Albanian municipality of Bulqiza . Most of the inhabitants of these places speak Macedonian .

Golloborda is one of the particularly poor areas of Albania. Since the establishment of the Albanian borders (1913 and 1921), the region has been cut off from its old urban center, Debar, a little further north . While this predominantly Albanian populated city came to Serbia and is now Macedonian, the Slavic villages of Golloborda were added to Albania.
