The Gomti ( Hindi : गोमती Gomtī [ ˈɡoːmtiː ]; also Gumti or Gomati ) is a river in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .

The 805 kilometer long river has its source in the Pilibhit district in the north of Uttar Pradesh, flows southeast through the Ganges plain and flows into the Ganges south of Saidpur in the Ghazipur district . The cities of Lucknow and Jaunpur lie on the banks of the Gomti . The Gomti is heavily polluted by large industrial companies and tanneries in the catchment area of ​​the river.
