Gonçalo Gomes
Gonçalo Gomes (born December 5, 1975 in Coimbra ) is a former Portuguese racing driver .
Career
Gonçalo Gomes began his motorsport career in karting , where he won the Portuguese Junior Championship in 1991. In 1992 he switched to Formula Ford and finished fourth overall in the domestic championship. A year later he was the overall winner of the same championship.
Several years followed in the Formula Opel Euroseries , the first international racing series in which he participated. His best placement in the final ranking was second overall behind Bas Leinders in 1996 .
In 1998 Gomes switched to GT and sports car racing. He drove the 24 Hours of Le Mans and started in the FIA GT Championship . Two years later returned to the monopostos . He secured the overall ranking of the Formula Novis championship twice, in 2001 and 2002 . At the end of 2010 he ended his racing career.
