The Gony Point is one of tussock grass overgrown headland on the south side of Bird Iceland off the northwestern tip of South Georgia . It is located 800 m southwest of Cardno Point and protrudes into the Bird Sound .

The South Georgia Survey conducted surveys during its 1951 and 1957 campaign. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the headland in 1963. In English-speaking sailor jargon, Gony is a name for the wandering albatross ( Diomedea exulans ), one of whose breeding grounds Bird Island is one.
