Gonzalo Pineda Reyes (born October 19, 1982 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican football player and current coach.
Career
Club career
Pineda emerged from the youth of the football club UNAM Pumas . For this club, the midfielder also made his professional debut in the Mexican Primera División in a game against Monarcas Morelia (0-1) on May 17, 2003. From the beginning of 2006 to 2014 he was in the service of Deportivo Guadalajara , was during this period but awarded four times (to Club San Luis , CD Cruz Azul , Puebla FC and Querétaro Fútbol Club ). He was three times Mexican soccer champion, twice with the Pumas and once with Guadalajara.
From March 2014 to early 2016, Pineda played for the Seattle Sounders for two years . Subsequently, in January 2016, he announced the end of his career and declared that he wanted to become a coach.
In January 2017, Pineda returned to the Seattle Sounders and took on the post of assistant coach alongside Brian Schmetzer .
National team
From 2004 to 2008 Pineda played for the Mexican national team . Among other things, he was part of the Mexican squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany . Pineda was used in all three Mexican group games as well as in the round of 16 against Argentina ; The latter was lost 2-1 after extra time and Mexico were eliminated.
