history
Goodwin Steel Castings has been supplying machined castings since 1883. The foundry employs 180 people and cooperates with its sister company Goodwin International Ltd., 5 kilometers away, in the machining, processing and assembly of the castings produced here. The Goodwin factory hall, which is equipped with modern CNC machines, employs around 270 people.
As part of the Goodwin PLC technology group, Goodwin Steel Castings Ltd. the main manufacturer of high alloy quality castings in the UK.
The company has been in the foundry industry since it was founded in 1883. It is one of the 10 oldest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In 1984, Goodwins was the first steel foundry in the world to be accredited by the British Standards Institution for foundry production and computer simulation of loading in accordance with BS5750 (now ISO 9001 ). In 2006 the company received the Queen's Award for International Trade.
Competencies
The company specializes in castings for suppliers to the mechanical engineering, nuclear energy, oil, petrochemical and process industries around the world.
Materials supplied include carbon steel, low-alloy and stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, duplex and super-duplex stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys.
The scope of delivery includes machined one-piece cast parts from 200 to 10,000 kg and products up to 18,000 kg. In addition, welded assemblies up to 50,000 kg can be delivered.
Steel and nickel alloys are melted in the electric arc furnace and can be processed using the AOD process .
