Gordon Ferrie Hull

Gordon Ferrie Hull (born October 7, 1870 , † October 7, 1956 ) was an American teacher , mathematician and physicist , who was best known for the experimental evidence of radiation pressure .

Life

Hull earned his doctorate in physics at the University of Chicago in 1897 , where he was later professor of physics. Then (1899-1940) he taught physics at Dartmouth College . In addition, he did research at Cambridge University and taught physics at Columbia University . In addition to his scientific career, Hull also pushed his military career. In 1917 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Hull became particularly famous when he and Ernest Fox Nichols were one of the first to experimentally demonstrate radiation pressure in 1903 .
