The Gorely ( Russian Горелый ) is an active volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia . The volcano is 1,829 meters high and is only separated by a valley next to the Mutnowski volcano .
The Gorely was created around 38,000 years ago when 100 cubic kilometers of tephra were extracted during a large volcanic eruption . 5 stratovolcanoes grew in the 13.5 × 9 kilometer caldera and merged to form the Gorely. Today there are 11 craters in the summit area and 30 fog cones on the flank of the volcano.
The Gorely can be reached in a day tour from Petrovpawlowsk and is quite easy to climb. A good path overcomes the 800 meters in altitude from the parking lot to the summit.
