Gorgeous Frankenstein is an American horror punk band formed in Las Vegas in 2005 by Paul Doyle Caiafa alias Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein , the former guitarist of the Misfits . The name is made up of Caiafa's pseudonym and the stage name of his wife Stephanie Bellars ( Gorgeous George ).
Career
Due to a disagreement with Jerry Only , Caiafa left the Misfits in 2001 . After a brief collaboration with Glenn Danzig , who performed the two classic Misfits songs, he founded Gorgeous Frankenstein in 2005 to continue producing music to his liking.
Landon Blood initially acted as the singer, but Doyle was increasingly dissatisfied with him and the breakup came about: "It turned out that the singer, a young guy from Las Vegas, just couldn't do it." The new singer was Argyle Goolsby from the popular horror punk band Blitzkid , the current main representative of the genre in the USA, who already played as a bassist in the group. David Calabrese alias Dr. Chud , who was also a member of the newly formed Misfits in the 1990s and also the band Dr. Chud's X-Ward runs drums for Gorgeous Frankenstein . Here too, the first drummer, Jesco Devilanse, was replaced. Doyle said: “It became clear that our drummer wasn't the right one either.” So Gorgeous Frankenstein now forms a “ supergroup ” in a way .
Doyle describes the music of Gorgeous Frankenstein as "much heavier" compared to the Misfits . The band is much more riff-oriented and with pounding rhythms: “It's music that could also be played in strip clubs. I want my music to sound like a great evening in the tit bar. "
The band's debut album was released in 2007 on Glenn Danzig 's Evilive Records label. In retrospect, Caiafa is very dissatisfied with it. It's basically just a demo and they haven't been a real band yet. A real record with twelve new songs is currently in the works.
In December 2009 Cancerslug singer Alex Story joined the formation as the new singer. In addition, the former Misfits singer Michale Graves appeared together with the band in 2009. New material was also presented for the first time on this tour.
