Golf Halt railway station [ ɡɔrsavauðaχaɪdraɪɡɔdanhɛðɔɡlɛðɔlloːnpɛnr̥ɪnarɛɨrdraːɨθkɛrɛdɪɡɪɔn ] (actually golf grip ) was the name of a breakpoint of the Fairbourne Railway in Gwynedd , Wales . The stop is on the route from the seaside town of Fairbourne to its ferry terminal, Barmouth Ferry , from where visitors can get to the seaside resort of Barmouth .

The Welsh name, which means something like " The Mawddach train station with its dragon teeth on north Penrhyn Street on the golden sands of Cardigan Bay ", was artificially created and used to be the longest name (67 letters) station in the Guinness Book of Records to be entered, which did not succeed. The mentioned dragon teeth refer to its nearby defense system, a holdover from the Second World War , whose concrete blocks look like dragon teeth. The original name was Golf Halt (golf stop), because the course stops here at a nine-hole golf course . The name contains various errors: Among other things, some postponement rules were disregarded and incorrect vocabulary and incorrect grammar were used.

In 2007 the station was officially renamed to its previous name. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch once again owns the station with the longest name.
