Goslar Museum

The Goslar Museum is a city of historical and geological museum at the "Museum Embankment" at the Abzucht in Goslar , King Street 1. The museum building is built in 1514 a Stiftskanoniker - Curia . The collection includes important medieval works of art, in particular from the collegiate church of St. Simon and Jude , which was demolished in 1820 , as well as objects that document the everyday and business life of the townspeople. In the geological section, the history of the earth is illustrated with stones, minerals and fossils. There are also changing special exhibitions.

The Natural Science Association Goslar eV was founded in 1852 and the Museum Association Goslar eV in 1905 . After provisional accommodation, the manufacturer H. Borchers made the curia building at the Abzucht available for the collections of both associations in 1922. In the same year, the joint sponsorship of the city of Goslar and the two associations was contractually regulated.
