Gospa od Mirišta (also Vavedenje or Žanjic Island) is a small Montenegrin island on the eastern side of the entrance to the Bay of Kotor . It is not far from the Luštica peninsula at the entrance to Mirišta Bay and a good kilometer from the island of Mamula . The area of the island is about 700 square meters. There is a fortified monastery complex with the Church of the Blessed Virgin, surrounded by high walls and a round tower . She is mentioned for the first time in historical sources from 1508 as Saint Maria de Sagnic . Traces of fresco paintings can be seen inside the church , on the west facade and on the east side. The monastery complex was renovated in 2002. The roof originally made of stone slabs was replaced by a new one made of red bricks.
