The Gotha Go 345 was a military cargo ship of the German Reich during World War II .
development
The development began in 1944 in the Gothaer Waggonfabrik as a cargo glider. A little later, however, the requirements were changed to a combat glider for targeted precision landings.
The cargo glider variant, the Go 345 A , was designed as a non-propulsion glider. The structure was similar to that of earlier projects such as the Gotha Go 242 , but it was a bit smaller. The Go 345 B , which was developed later , also received an auxiliary drive, which was to be implemented with two Argus-Pulso As 014 thrust tubes ( deflagration jet engines ). In addition, a brake rocket was installed to enable targeted pinpoint landings on a limited landing area.
Ten fully equipped soldiers could be transported with this glider. Both variants were entered through a side door of the fuselage.
