The Gotha Go 150 was a touring and sports aircraft made by the German manufacturer Gothaer Waggonfabrik .
history
The aircraft was developed in 1937/38 by the Gothaer Waggonfabrik as a twin-engine, two - seater low- wing aircraft based on a tender for a new training aircraft for the NS Fliegerkorps (NSFK) . The first prototype D-ERCQ took off for the first time in 1937 and reached a top speed of 195 km / h with a take-off mass of 775 kg. The machine took part in the international air race in Frankfurt am Main in 1938. The plane was made almost entirely of wood and was therefore very light. The chassis was a rigid normal chassis. Two Zündapp 9-092 four-cylinder in-line engines with 50 hp each served as drive . There was no military use and it remained in a small series.
On July 5, 1939, a copy called the Go 150S exhibited with the pilot Dr.-Ing. Fritz space and reached 8048 m a new world altitude record in class C, single seat, Category 3. On this machine, however, the wings were enlarged and the engines tuned. Many celebrities (including Heinz Rühmann and Elly Beinhorn ) wanted to purchase the Go 150 privately after this record, but this failed due to political restrictions.
Based on the Go 150, Albert Kalkert developed the Go 241 in 1940 (shortly before he left the Gothaer Waggonfabrik). This was a four-seater machine with retractable landing gear and double vertical tail, which was powered by two Hirth HM506A with 118 kW each. It is not known whether the D-IRMM ever flew.
