Gottfried Bear

Gottfried Bär (born April 11, 1952 in Hallein ) is a former Austrian table tennis player . He was one of the best players in Austria in the late 1970s and 1980s and took part in the 1988 Olympic Games .

Career

Gottfried Bär played for the TTC Raiffeisen Kuchl club . After initial successes at the local level, he became Austrian school master in 1966. In 1979, 1983 and 1986 he won the Austrian state championship in the individual competition for adults . With the men of the TTC Raiffeisen Kuchl, he became Austrian team champions in 1975, 1976 and 1981. In 1983 he won the national ranking tournament.

Between 1979 and 1989 he took part in five world championships and four times in European championships , but never came close to medal ranks. In 1988 he qualified with Ding Yi for participation in the doubles competition at the Olympic Games , where they were eliminated in the preliminary round.

Later he played for the clubs Waldegg Linz, Stockerau, Police Vienna, before he returned to Kuchl in 1997. He received the ring of honor of the market town of Kuchl.

Gottfried Bär is married.
