Gottfried Keizer
Gottfried Keizer (also Ceiser) (* around 1650 near Dornburg ; † after 1712 ) was a German composer and organist .
Life
Gottfried Keizer was born in the area around Dornburg and Eisenberg . Between 1668 and 1669 he was one of the musicians at the court of Count Heinrich I Reuss zu Obergreiz . In 1671 he accepted a position as organist in Teuchern . He married Agnes Dorothea von Etzdorff († 1732) on September 17, 1673 .
On January 16, 1674 his son Reinhard was born, the later composer. On September 10, 1675, his second son Gottfried Gustavus was baptized. In the office of organist in Teuchern he had the obligation to give lessons at the school. Because of low pay and arrears, he obviously did not give these lessons and there were differences with the school management and the church. Keizer therefore left Teuchern and from around 1676 worked in northern Germany ( Lübeck and Hamburg ), so that the upbringing of his sons was in the hands of his wife, who remained in Teuchern.
The Mark Passion of 1707, with which u. a. Johann Sebastian Bach intensively occupied himself, which for a long time was attributed to his son Reinhard, probably comes from Gottfried Keizer.
