Gottfried Kinkel (politician)

Gottfried Kinkel (born August 30, 1871 in Bonholz , Oberamt Welzheim ; † December 11, 1932 in Göppingen ) was a German politician and member of the Württemberg state parliament.

life and work

After attending primary school, Gottfried Kinkel trained as a carpenter and then went on a hike. From 1891 to 1894 he did his military service. Until 1907 he worked as a carpenter's assistant, most recently as an independent master carpenter. From September 1907 to June 1912 Kinkel was employed as a health insurance controller at OKK Göppingen, and was dismissed for alleged misconduct. From June 1912 until his death he then worked as a cigar dealer in Göppingen.

politics

Since 1889 Kinkel was a member of the SPD and the trade union (woodworkers association). From 1897 to 1898 and 1903 he was chairman of the Göppingen trade union cartel and in 1908 chairman of the Göppingen SPD. In 1917 he became a member of the USPD , and in 1922 he returned to the SPD.

In 1910, Gottfried Kinkel was elected to the Württemberg state parliament in a replacement election for the resigned Johannes von Hieber ; he took up the mandate on January 14, 1911 and was a member of the committee until 1912. In 1920 he was re-elected to the Landtag of the Free People's State of Württemberg via the USPD 's state list, where he was chairman of the USPD parliamentary group from 1919 to 1922. After re-elections in 1924 and 1928, he was a member of the state parliament until death.

In 1912 and 1920 Kinkel ran unsuccessfully for the Reichstag . From 1907 to 1913 and from 1919 to 1932 he was also a member of the municipal council in Göppingen.
