Gottfried Trachsel

Gottfried Trachsel (born October 5, 1907 , † 1974 in Thun , Canton Bern ) was a Swiss dressage rider .

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 he won the silver medal in team dressage behind Sweden on his horse “Kursus” together with Henri Chammartin and Gustav Fischer . He had already started in the individual dressage before, but had just missed a podium with fourth place. Four years later, Trachsel won another medal in team dressage at the equestrian games of the 1956 Summer Olympics in Stockholm together with Chammartin and Fischer , this time bronze behind Sweden and the Germans tied for points. In the individual dressage he had previously achieved sixth place.
