Gottfried von Falmagne

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gottfried von Falmagne , also called God (e) frid von Falmagne (Fallenmaigne) or Godefroi de Falmagne (* around 1065 in Falmagne an der Maas ; † November 1128 in Trier ) was Archbishop of Trier from 1124 to 1127.

Gottfried was elected with the support of the Counts of Luxembourg . When he did not support the Luxembourgers after his election, they moved into Trier unhindered. At that time, Ludwig von der Brücke, a member of a Trier ministerial family, ruled Trier. Another nobleman (Brunicho, probably from the first noble family of the von Malbergs ) tried to expand his influence at the expense of the Trier church without Archbishop Gottfried being able to stop him.
