Meginher of Falmagne
Meginher von Falmagne (Fallenmaigne), also called Meginher von Vianden , (* around 1070 in Vianden ; † October 1, 1130 in Parma ) was Archbishop of Trier from 1127 to 1130 .
One of his first official acts was the storming of Neuerburg (near Wittlich-Bombogen ) by Wilhelm I of Luxembourg to pacify the area. In 1128 he was confirmed in office in Rome by Pope Honorius II . Back in Trier , he fought against the clergy, some of which were badly degenerated, and banned the Franconian Duke and Roman-German King Konrad III on behalf of the Pope . , at that time anti-king against the reigning King Lothar III. from Süpplingenburg .
In 1129 he initiated the Augustinian foundation “ Our Lady in Front of the Walls ” in Andernach with the support of Abbot Richard I of Springiersbach Abbey .
In the following year 1130 he went to Rome again, but was taken prisoner by the banished rival King Konrad probably out of revenge and held in Parma , where he died on October 1st, 1130. The archbishop's chair remained orphaned for a year ( sedis vacancy ).
