Gottfried von Hövel

Gottfried von Hövel (* in the 15th century; † March 5, 1530 ) was Vice Dominus and Canon in Münster .

Life

Gottfried von Hövel came from the knightly von Hövel family , who had a shield that was split three times as a coat of arms. Its exact genealogical origin is not proven. In April 1483 he was first mentioned in a document as the canon of Münster. It was owned by the Helle obedience . He also owned the Archdeaconate Borculo . After the election of the canon Alexander Morrien as provost of the cathedral , Gottfried became vice-dominus and was thus the sovereign's representative . The episcopal confirmation followed on January 28, 1524.
