Gottfried von Rodenberg , also Göddert von Rodenberg , actually Gottfried VII von Rüdenberg (before 1390 - after 1445) was Commander of the Teutonic Order and Land Marshal in Livonia in the first half of the 15th century .

Life

He came from the Westphalian noble family Rüdenberg . Johann Suibert Seibertz sees in him the second son of Heinrich VI. from Rüdenberg. He only appears in his father's Westphalian documents in 1390 and 1391. After that he will have entered the service of the Teutonic Order. In 1415 he was still a simple knight, but then rose in the hierarchy of the order. In 1419 and 1420 he was Vogt of Roggenhausen. From 1417 to 1419 he was Commander in Strasbourg . From 1426 to 1430 he was Komtur in Schönsee . At the same time he administered the Bailiwick of Leipe. In 1426 he led a troop of fifty spears as an auxiliary force of the Teutonic Order for the imperial lord to fight the Hussites . In 1427 the troops marched towards the Lausitz. Due to a lack of weapons and horses, the troops were not involved in the fight in Bohemia itself.

He was commander of Golub from 1433 to 1436 . In a document from 1435 he was named as Land Marshal in Livonia. He held this office until 1438. After the death of Heinrich von Böckenförde he officiated 1437/38 short time as a country champion . He was partly responsible for the fact that Heinrich Vincke von Oberberge was elected as acting landmaster. He was last named as Commander in Marienburg in 1445 .
