Gottlieb Friese

Daniel Karl Gottlieb Friese (born February 9, 1866 in Northeim ; † April 10, 1945 ) was a German veterinarian.

Life

Born as the son of butcher Daniel Friese, Gottlieb Friese began studying veterinary medicine at the Hanover Veterinary School in the summer semester of 1883 and became a member of the Corps Normannia Hanover . After serving as a one-year volunteer with the 2nd Kurhessian Infantry Regiment No. 82 in 1885/86 , he continued his studies in Hanover and received his veterinary license in December 1890 and established himself as a practical veterinarian in Alfeld . In the winter semester of 1896 he became a tutor at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover . In 1898 he passed the district veterinary exam. At the end of March 1899 he resumed his work as a general veterinarian in Alfeld. In the winter semester of 1914 he became the anatomy prosector at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Hanover. During the First World War he took part as senior veterinary officer of the Landwehr replacement squadron of the King's Uhlan Regiment No. 13 in Hanover. In the winter semester of 1917/18 he became a tutor at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover. In 1919 he left the service of the university. He became full-time managing director of the Prussian Veterinary Chamber Committee. He retired on January 1, 1934.

Friesian work for the veterinary profession in Prussia was recognized in addition to an academic award with numerous laudations in the journals Deutsche Tierärztliche Wochenschrift, Tierärztliche Monatsschrift, Tierärztliche Rundschau, Deutsches Tierärzteblatt and the magazine for meat and milk hygiene. He was married to Klara Karras.
